Casanova’s perversion or just a landscape?
The idea for the promotional poster of Casanova love and erotic festival 2010 is conveyed through the image of two hills separated by sea, or, more accurately, the hills of Vrsar and Montraker are pictured in a stylized way, since these are the sites where the festival takes place. At the same time the illustration subtly suggests a female body part, not definable at first glance, which invites the viewer’s imagination to determine whether it is buttocks, breasts, intimate parts… However the solution is always neutral enough (details in no way clearly depict any human body part) in order not to ever cross the border of explicitness. When viewed from another perspective, the poster may also represent a pencil, which is a strong link with an important part of the festival’s content – literary evenings, the contest for the best erotic story etc…thus communicating the spiritual and the serious aspect of the festival since it was extremely important for promoting the festival itself to find a way to promote erotism but never suggesting pornography.
