The city library and the reading room of Pula are a symbol of knowledge, culture and freedom for all its citizens and visitors. After the recent fire outbreak and the consequent complete reconstruction, it was decided that the moment was perfect for a new visual identity which would improve visibility and confirm the social value of this important place. The new design aims to promote the library as an institution open and accessible to everyone, and to create intuitive and welcoming visual communication within its physical space.

The concept is based on the richness and variety of content the library offers. Inspired by shelves that exude both colorfulness and symmetry at the same time, and their repetitive elements that still communicate diversity through their content, we designed a visual identity that behaves in a similar way – although dynamic, inviting and accessible, it is also simple, logical in construction, connected to the subject matter and easily applicable to a large range of library needs.

Given that the library contains an incredible amount of content where everyone can find something for themselves, and that we want to make it as accessible a place as possible, we used a wide range of colors in the logo and its applications. They actually symbolize the colorfulness and richness of the library’s content and events, or, in other words, the experience that the library provides us and how it enriches us.
