The exhibition of Croatian design 1112 at the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb opened on September 13th.Within the exhibition the best design achievements in the past two years were awarded by the Croatian Designers Association. The festival Hartera – a mobile application that we created in collaboration with a group of authors, won the award for the best design of electronic / interactive media in the professional category. Author of the project is Damir Martinović – Mrle (Creative Director), and co-authors are: Mirko Trkulja (concept and design of the mobile application), Studio Sonda (design of promotional materials and mobile application), Tea Stražičić and Sebastian Saganić (comics).

Hartera Festival mobile application provides information about the festival, enables to purchase cheaper festival tickets, to download and read comics. It also allows playing interactive mini-games that run through the “Augmented Reality” and “face recognition”, a technology that has already been a hit for a while in the world.

Features and application options unlocked by scanning QR codes that are visible and strategically located in the area of Hartera. A large amount of QR codes is distributed and presented through printed materials before the festival takes place all over the country and the region. By finding them, and by following the instructions and characters that will appear in the virtual space (more precisely, a view through the screen of a cell phone) and participating in the games, users will be able to get to the various installations (eg. a fountain of beer), projections or even secret locations / parties within the Hartera space.

Moreover, Hartera festival is one of the biggest music festivals in Croatia that combines different genres of urban music. It is held in Rijeka in the old abandoned paper factory named Hartera, after which the festival takes its name, and Studio Sonda is the author of its visual identity.
